Manufacturer: ResMed
Lifestyle Needs: Quiet Machine, For Her Version, Built-In Humidifier
Size: 8 in L x 4.57 in W x 5.91 in H
Our Review
The ResMed AirSense 10 is our winner among the machines we reviewed here, offering customers exceptional value because of the built-in humidifier, while at the same time bringing a device packed with smart technology and the latest comfort features. It’s also one of the quietest CPAP machines on the market today, operating at 26.6 decibels– almost whisper quiet.
While not designed for portability, the AirSense 10 is light enough to go almost anywhere, and it’s small enough to fit in a suitcase. The package with a humidifier is smaller than the DreamStation Auto with humidifier, and costs around $880. The AirSense 10, DreamStation Auto, and all the CPAPs on this list are actually APAPs—machines that can automatically set the correct therapy pressure. This can mean fewer trips to the doctor to set the correct pressure, fewer copays, and fewer sleep studies!
The AirSense 10 also comes in a “For Her” model, the AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her, designed for a woman’s unique needs. The AirSense 10 AutoSet and the AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her are truly great sleep apnea machines and can help anyone with Sleep Apnea. For anyone looking for a quality home unit, this is it.
Good For:
Simply put, people love the idea of a small, lightweight, and ultra-portable CPAP machine that can go anywhere and fits in the palm of the hand—one of the reasons it’s such a big seller. If you’re a frequent traveler, this is your machine. You’ll need to come to terms with the fact that it may be louder than your home unit. For most users, the waterless humidification is a good substitute for tanked humidification.

Our Review
We really like the DreamStation Auto, because it’s the quietest CPAP machine on this list. It’s so quiet you may not notice it when it’s working. For noise-sensitive people, this is your device. For the best experience, Philips recommends using only one of their masks, but we’ve found the DreamStation works well with masks from many different manufacturers—not just Philips.
The DreamStation’s ramp and pressure relief features make it easy to fall asleep, and during the night the automatic pressure setting will help keep you asleep. We also really like the auto start feature, as it makes starting therapy much easier. Overall, the DreamStation Auto is one of the best CPAP machines on the market today, and it’s easy to see why.

With the advent of the DreamStation Go, Phillips created a device with a number of features that wowed consumers and healthcare professionals alike. The big positive was a range of battery and charging options, FAA certification, small size, and featherlight weight. The negatives included no humidification and the fact that the machine was fairly noisy.
This machine is special because it’s the first CPAP machine to have a true color touchscreen display. It also makes use of Philips advanced pressure relief options and includes a slim tube and an integrated battery with fantastic run times. It’s a frequent traveler’s dream, one you can take on the road easily.
Overall, there’s a lot to like about the DreamStation Go, and it’s a good reason why many people use it for their go-to travel machine.

Human Design Medical Z2 Auto Travel CPAP Machine
Price: Around $589Manufacturer: Human Design Medical
Lifestyle Needs: Ultra-portable, quiet,
Size: 10″ x 8.5″ x 4.5″
Our Review
Overall, the Z2 Auto scored very well across the board and has made a name for itself compared to similar travel machines. Ultimately, the difference in pitch levels and humidification options are the major factors that separate the Z1 Auto from the Z2 Auto. The option of having a quieter machine with the ability to leave your humidification system at home makes the Z2 Auto hard to beat.
Good For:
- Travelers
- Those with difficulty exhaling against pressure
- Those seeking a ramp feature
